On this day, temps were nearing 100 degrees. The crew of USA Insulation did a low, belly-crawl through a tight attic. Using a CoolVac23, this crew made quick work of the extraction. Old, 75-year-old mineral wool stuck to them and made this job miserable. At the end of the day, drenched from sweat and difficult work, everyone of these workers had smiles on their faces. They were excited to have a piece of machinery that was capable of moving material out of the attic at twice the speed they were accustomed to. We were glad to be on-site with this crew and witness the “Cool Time” effect—when your job goes faster because you use a Cool Machine! They expected to work a couple of days in this attic, but finished in less than one day.
What makes a low, belly crawl attic extraction difficult is that you have to dig deep into small angles to reach the top-plates. With a stick attached to the end of the hose, they were able to reach into the smallest of areas without having to endure suffocating conditions in the extreme heat.
USA Insulation purchased a CoolVac23 with a cover saver. This old attic had a large amount of debris and the vacuum saver saved their machines and bags. Although the space was small, we helped them with navigating the 6” hose to make quick work.
This crew of 5 guys rotated turns to allow for cool-downs. They knew that jumping into an air-conditioned vehicle would be a mistake and found that sitting outside allowed them to cool down properly with plenty of liquids.
Jason, the owner of the company, provided plenty of liquids, food and tools to make sure his crew was equipped for the day.
Thank you, USA Insulation for having us on-site! We were glad to see smiling faces, not only at the beginning of the job, but all the way to the end. Thank you for your input on how to handle the heat! (Link to heat video)
